Buffalo Bills linebacker Joe Andreessen, a Lancaster native, had a remarkable experience playing for his hometown team at Highmark Stadium on Friday night.
“It was incredible to run out of the tunnel and see all the fans. It’s a whole different feeling compared to high school,” Andreessen said.
He hopes his presence on the field serves as inspiration for kids across Western New York, showing them that achieving their professional football dreams is possible.
Andreessen had played at Highmark Stadium three times as a high school Legend but recalls the experience of being a young fan and looking up to his favorite Bills players as something he will always cherish.
“I remember what it was like being one of those people in the stands, so being on the other side is really special,” he said. “I know how much the Buffalo Bills mean to the people here. Growing up, I saw Bills flags everywhere, and it’s a big part of this community.”
The Bills will have a day off on Saturday before resuming their training camp practices at St. John Fisher on Sunday.
