USC lands another top experienced sharp shooter known for his scoring ability

Four-star offensive tackle prospect Carde Smith is set to announce which college he plans to commit to on Monday, and USC football is a favorite to land him. Smith plans to announce his commitment on Instagram at 12 p.m. CT Monday.

Smith remains one of the few top four-star prospects from the 2025 recruiting class. He is ranked No. 286 in ESPN’s top 300 recruits for this class. Out of these top 300 players, only 39 have yet to commit, with eight being offensive linemen. This makes Smith a highly sought-after player, particularly because he plays a critical position on the field.

Standing 6 feet 5 inches tall, Smith is a tackle at Williamson High School in Mobile, Alabama, and is about to enter his senior year. While it is anticipated that he will choose USC, he will officially announce his decision on Monday.

Smith has attracted offers from numerous schools, including Auburn, Arkansas, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Jacksonville State, Marshall, Miami, Mississippi State, Mississippi Valley State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Troy, Tulane, Tuskegee, UAB, Vanderbilt, Alabama, and LSU, according to 247 Sports.

He has visited Auburn and Florida State unofficially and Auburn and USC officially. Initially committed to Auburn after his verbal pledge on April 10, 2024, Smith de-committed on June 26.

In a social media post on June 26, Smith said, “Dear Auburn nation, after much consideration and prayer, I have decided to decommit from Auburn University. This was a very difficult decision for me and my family. I want to thank the Auburn coaching staff for their dedication and efforts in recruiting me. I ask for respect for my decision.”

The projected right tackle received an offer from USC on May 15 and subsequently took his official visit on June 21, just five days before he de-committed from Auburn.

If Smith decides to commit to USC, he will become the 16th player to join the Trojans for the 2025 class. He would also be the sixth four-star recruit and the sixth ESPN top 300 player to commit to USC for this class. Currently, USC’s commitments from the ESPN top 300 include Julian Lewis, Jadon Perlotte, Matai Tagoa’i, Trestin Castro, and Hayden Lowe.
