The Detroit Lions suffered several injuries vs. the New York Giants, including a concussion to QB Hendon Hooker.
Detroit Lions veteran quarterback Nate Sudfeld had a challenging first half, but the offense gained a significant boost with second-year QB Hendon Hooker stepping in during the second half.
The Lions took full advantage of Hooker’s mobility, and the former Tennessee Volunteer quickly found his rhythm. One standout moment was his impressive scramble late in the third quarter. On a play-action boot, Hooker evaded initial pressure and easily outran the edge defender.
As he approached the second level of defense, Hooker showed no hesitation. Instead of sliding, he charged forward and delivered a powerful shoulder hit to Giants safety Gervarrius Owens, knocking the New York defender backward.

Hooker picked up 16 yards on the play, and set up Detroit for their first red zone trip of the game. Unfortunately, the Lions went scoreless on the drive after Hooker’s pass was batted at the line on fourth down.
UPDATE:Â Hooker went to the locker room after this drive after spending some time in the medical tent.
UPDATE 2:Â According to Lions coach Dan Campbell, Hooker is officially in concussion protocol. Additionally, receiver Antoine Green is also in concussion protocol, defensive lineman David Bada has an achilles injury, offensive tackle Connor Galvin has a knee injury, and defensive end James Houston is dealing with a bone bruise. Galvin and Bada were carted off the field and could not put any weight on their injured legs.
