INJURY NEWS: Another Talented Detroit Lions Devoted Player suffers Long-Term Injury

The Detroit Lions are concerned that receiver Tre’Quan Smith may be sidelined for an extended period due to a hand injury, but they are hopeful about the recovery prospects for other players who were injured during their 24-23 preseason victory against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite a challenging week on the injury front, the Lions see this win as a bright spot, even though they empathize with Smith.

“Tre’Quan Smith is the one we’re worried about possibly being out for a while,” said head coach Dan Campbell. “He suffered a hand injury. As for the others, I think we’ll be fine in the long run.”

Smith, who was signed as a free agent this year, did not record any receptions in the preseason games and faced an uphill battle to secure a spot on the roster.

Offensive tackle Dan Skipper (ankle) and edge rusher Malik Jefferson (finger) also left the game and did not return, but Campbell is optimistic about their recovery.

“Skip should be OK,” Campbell noted. “It looks like an ankle issue. He’ll likely be sore for a few days, but it doesn’t seem to be a long-term problem.”
