Roster cuts are right around the corner.
With several positions hit hard by injuries, General Manager Brandon Beane has had to bring in new players just to make up the numbers for the preseason. Moreover, key players like Mitch Trubisky and Marquez Valdes-Scantling might miss some of the regular season if they don’t recover fully.
The Bills’ offense has struggled throughout the preseason, failing to score a touchdown so far. They’ve managed only 15 points from five field goals, and they’ve had just three genuine chances in the red zone without converting any into touchdowns. Conversely, the defense has performed well, particularly in their game against Pittsburgh, with standout play from Buffalo native linebacker Joe Andreessen.

As the Bills get ready to close out the preseason against the Carolina Panthers, many players will be making their final appearance in Orchard Park. Roster cuts are imminent, and this game could be the last opportunity for several players to showcase their skills in front of Bills Mafia. This moment highlights the more difficult aspects of team management.
Buffalo Bills urged to cut ties with linebacker Deion Jones
David Kenyon of Bleacher Report compiled a list suggesting one player that each NFL team should consider cutting before the start of the regular season. For the Buffalo Bills, linebacker Deion Jones was identified as the player who might be on the chopping block.
“Because of injuries, there’s a chance Deion Jones sticks in Buffalo for a bit. At this point, however, hope of Jones reclaiming his early career form is more wishful than anything. Joe Andreessen’s recent emergence may have shifted Jones to the wrong side of the roster bubble.”
Kenyon raises a valid point regarding the impact of injuries, but the front office is likely to avoid making decisions that could necessitate later adjustments once key starters return. With Matt Milano expected to miss most of the season, Buffalo might seek to bolster their linebacker depth, which could benefit Jones.
However, Jones has been notably subdued throughout training camp and preseason. While Joe Andreessen drew attention with his performance against the Steelers, he may be positioned higher on the depth chart compared to Jones. If Jones doesn’t make a strong impression in the upcoming game against his former team, his time with the Bills could be limited.
