Former first-round safety Lewis Cine is moving to New York, but he won’t be joining the Jets or Giants.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports that Cine, who previously played for the Vikings, is set to join the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad after choosing them over the Jets.
Even though Cine will start on the practice squad, he brings significant talent to the table. The Bills had to part ways with several key defensive players, including Pro Bowl safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde.
The starting safeties for Buffalo this season are expected to be veterans Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin, with Cam Lewis, Cole Bishop, and veteran Mike Edwards providing depth.

Cine, a former CFP National Title Game Defensive MVP and a key contributor to one of college football’s top defenses at Georgia, has struggled with injuries, limiting him to just ten games over his first two seasons since being drafted 32nd overall in 2022.
He will need to stay healthy to make an impact in Buffalo. This move by the Bills might be underrated, but it adds valuable depth with a highly talented player who has faced injury issues.
Garafolo recently shared on social media that, although Cine initially favored the Jets, he has decided to join the Bills in the AFC East.
