On Friday, it was announced that the USC Trojans have secured another wide receiver for their 2025 recruiting class.
James Johnson from Douglas County High School in Douglasville, GA will join fellow recruits Corey Simms, Tanook Hines, and Romero Ison on the Trojans’ roster for 2025.
The Trojans offered the 6′, 180-pound receiver a scholarship in January 2024, alongside 32 other schools, including his home state Georgia Bulldogs, South Carolina, Texas, and Ohio State.
On Monday, Johnson released his top five schools and today confirmed his commitment to USC.

According to On3: “USC sees him as a wide receiver, defensive back, and potential return specialist in the future. They are very enthusiastic about his versatility, though he is expected to play as a defensive back under Doug Belk.”
In 2022, Johnson was a key player for Douglas County’s offense. He not only excelled as a wide receiver with 31 catches, 614 yards, and three touchdowns, but also showed his dual-threat capabilities by rushing for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he took on the quarterback role when the starter was injured, highlighting his adaptability and skill.
Johnson is also an important contributor to Douglas County’s basketball and baseball teams.
