Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs gives insight into his injury
As anticipation builds for the upcoming Detroit Lions season, fans are eager for updates on star running back Jahmyr Gibbs and his injury status. Lions head coach Dan Campbell, energized for the new season, provided an encouraging update on Gibbs during a Wednesday discussion that should boost fan optimism.
Gibbs is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, but he’s hopeful it won’t impede his performance as he enters his second NFL season following a strong rookie year. Campbell, however, offered a positive assessment, noting that Gibbs “looks really good” and has impressed in practice as the team prepares for their season opener on Sunday, according to NBC Sports.
Campbell explained that it’s crucial for Gibbs to maintain his speed in practice: “He looks really good,” Campbell said. “The key with Gibbs is this: when you can run like he does—this guy can run—you need to hit that top speed in practice at least once or twice a day. If not, you risk problems on game day. If you only reach that speed when a defender is chasing you, it can lead to issues.”
Campbell elaborated, “With elite speed, you can pull away in practice, but you haven’t fully pushed yourself until the game. So, we’re working on educating him about this and ensuring he practices at the right intensity to prevent setbacks. He’s doing well, and we’re pleased with his progress.”
