Breaking: LSU has announced injury statuses of two of their key players

The LSU football team had a lighter injury report entering this weekend’s game against South Alabama. That comes with a caveat: LSU has lost Jacobian Guillory, Harold Perkins Jr., and John Emery Jr. for the season so far. Aside from the season-ending injuries, LSU entered the pregame relatively healthy for this game.

The most pressing injury concerns prior to the game were Wide Receiver Chris Hilton Jr. and Cornerback Zy Alexander. Weeks was in a boot last weekend and missed the game, while Chris Hilton Jr was anticipated to return, but LSU decided to give him one more week to recover from bone bruises. Zy Alexander was hit hard on the sideline and had to leave the game due to a concussion.

Louisiana State University cornerback Zy Alexander (14) intercepted a pass during the first quarter at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C. Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Chris Hilton will miss the game once more, which is strange given that Brian Kelly claimed he’d be returning last weekend and implied after the game that they were giving him one more game off. There should be some questions about what’s going on with this injury, given he appears to be close to returning every week this year.

Zy Alexander has been perhaps LSU’s greatest defensive back since recovering from an ACL injury. Zy Alexander’s absence from tonight’s game is a significant setback as he recovers from a concussion. In his absence, we expect see a lot of PJ Woodland, Jyaire Brown, and JK Johnson.
