Sydney Schoeck, an honorable mention on SwimSwam’s Way Too Early Recruit Rankings for the girls’ high school class of 2026, has declared her commitment to the Texas Longhorns. Hailing from Chesterfield, Missouri, Schoeck is a swimmer for the CSP Tideriders.
Schoeck competed at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials, participating in the 200-meter backstroke and the 400-meter individual medley (IM). While she didn’t achieve her best times in Indianapolis, she placed 24th in the 400 IM and later set a personal best of 4:47.39 at the NCSA Summer Championships, where she won the event. Her lifetime best in the 200-meter backstroke is 2:12.31, which she achieved at the Columbia Speedo Sectionals in March to qualify for the Trials.
In short-course yards, Schoeck has emerged as a strong IM swimmer, but her backstroke times, which were noted as “intriguing” in the “Way Too Early” rankings, have the potential to improve following the progress she made in long-course this summer. Her 200 IM time, recorded in January 2023, is currently the seventh fastest in her recruiting class.
Schoeck is the first public verbal commitment for the Texas women’s team in the high school class of 2026. The Longhorns have secured second place at the Women’s NCAA Championships for the past three seasons.
