The Cowboys have faced a tough stretch with injuries over the past few weeks, especially at the same position.
In particular, the defensive end position has taken a hit. Sam Williams was ruled out for the season with a knee injury during training camp. Shortly after, DeMarcus Lawrence suffered a foot injury, which will keep him sidelined for 4-8 weeks. Micah Parsons also missed last week due to a high-ankle sprain, and Marshawn Kneeland sustained a knee injury that could sideline him for approximately six weeks, though he is still being evaluated by the team.
Additionally, there have been numerous injuries affecting other positions on the roster.
On Tuesday, Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones was asked about the likelihood of a few players returning for this week’s game against the Lions.
When asked about offensive tackle Tyler Guyton, who exited the last game due to a knee injury, Jones provided some insights into his potential availability.
“We’ll take a look at it during practice,” Jones said about Guyton. “My thoughts are that he has a chance to play against Detroit.”
Regarding cornerback DaRon Bland, who has been on IR with a fractured foot, it seems unlikely he’ll be back for this game.
“Well, I don’t think he’ll make it this week. He’s on schedule,” Jones noted. “We had considered him returning after the bye week. We’ll see how he progresses, but it’s not out of the question.”
As for Micah Parsons, who was expected to miss at least two games following his injury in the Giants game, Jones stated that he will “be evaluated carefully. It’s uncertain. We’ll see how things unfold this week.”
