FSU has 11 commits in their 2025 recruiting class right now.
Florida State’s performance on the field has been disappointing this season, with a 1-5 record and losses to Georgia, Boston College, Memphis, SMU, and Clemson in the first six weeks.
Usually, poor results on the field lead to negative effects on recruiting, and we’ve already seen some prospects back out of their commitments to the Seminoles. This includes four-star defensive linemen Myron Charles and Javion Hilson, as well as four-star wide receiver Malik Clark.
Currently, FSU has 11 players committed to their 2025 recruiting class, which ranks No. 35 nationally. So, how secure are FSU’s remaining commitments?
We’ll assess each commit by placing them into one of three categories to reflect our perception of their commitment status to Florida State:
– **Very Solid**
– **Solid**
– **Shaky**
Here’s an overview of the commitment status for Florida State’s 2025 recruits:
### Very Solid
– **Tramell Jones Jr.** (3-star QB): Committed in April 2023. Although there were rumors he might flip to Florida in the spring and summer, he has since shut down his recruitment and remains solid with FSU. No indications of wavering.
– **Byron Louis** (3-star RB): Committed after FSU’s recent win over California. Believes in the program under Coach Norvell and remains firmly pledged to the Seminoles.
– **Peyton Joseph** (4-star iOL): Announced he was shutting down his recruitment to other schools after FSU’s loss to Memphis, which is encouraging for the program as they work on bolstering the offensive line.
– **Ethan Pritchard** (3-star LB): One of the longest-tenured commits in the class, he has shown no signs of wavering despite interest from UCF over the summer.
– **Max Redmon** (3-star DB): Committed over the summer and hasn’t shown any signs of losing faith in the program despite a rough season.
### Solid
– **Chase Loftin** (3-star TE): Committed over the summer, turning down offers from schools like Missouri, Nebraska, and Texas A&M. He has strong relationships with the FSU coaching staff, which should help keep him committed.
– **Solomon Thomas** (5-star OL): Top-rated commit, he remains supportive of FSU despite their on-field struggles. However, other programs are likely to pursue him given his talent, so this could become a contested recruitment.
– **Zae Thomas** (4-star DB): Chose FSU over Clemson and has deep ties to the program. Although Alabama has shown interest, his connections to FSU should help him stay committed.
### Shaky
– **CJ Wiley** (4-star WR): Committed over the summer, surprising many by picking FSU over Georgia. Now, with FSU’s rough season, Georgia is back in the picture, along with Auburn and LSU. He recently visited Georgia, making his commitment appear uncertain.
– **Daylan McCutcheon** (4-star WR): Committed during the summer, but Texas and Texas A&M are now pushing hard to flip him due to FSU’s struggles. He has visited both schools recently, and a flip to Texas seems possible if they pursue him strongly.
### Flip Watch
– **Kevin Wynn** (4-star DL): He is the most likely candidate for a flip, as Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Colorado are all recruiting him intensely. While he visited FSU for the Clemson game and gave positive feedback, his status remains uncertain.
