Dallas pass rusher Micah Parsons is still not ready to play after suffering an ankle injury in Week 4.
The Dallas Cowboys are aiming for their third consecutive victory on Sunday as they host the Detroit Lions.
Recently, injuries have heavily impacted the Cowboys’ defense, with Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and rookie Marshawn Kneeland all dealing with issues. This is particularly concerning since the Lions’ offense can score quickly.
On a positive note, All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland is expected to return after starting the season on injured reserve due to a stress fracture in his foot.
However, the Cowboys’ defensive line will likely be without Parsons, who is still recovering from a high ankle sprain he sustained in Week 4 against the New York Giants.
Cowboys News: Micah Parsons Likely to Miss Second-Straight Game
ESPN’s Todd Archer reports that the star pass rusher did some light rehabilitation for his high left ankle sprain on Thursday. Archer indicates that it seems he will miss his second consecutive game.
The Cowboys managed to secure a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week without Parsons, largely due to the performance of second-year defensive end Tyrus Wheat. Wheat filled in for Kneeland, who was carted off in the first quarter.
The 24-year-old defensive lineman tallied three total tackles, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hit, and half a sack. Dallas will be counting on Wheat to deliver again on Sunday against one of the NFL’s stronger offensive lines.
However, with a bye in Week 7, there’s a chance Parsons could return for a crucial NFC matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. First, though, the Cowboys need to overcome the Lions at home.
