Just In: Another Four-Star Flips Commitment From Florida State To Texas

The Longhorns add another playmaking wide receiver to the 2025 recruiting class.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns have started the 2024 season strong and are now gaining momentum in recruiting as well.

Lucas Lovejoy wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon, a consensus four-star recruit, initially committed to Florida State over the summer. However, as the season progressed for the Seminoles, McCutcheon began reconsidering his options.

After an unofficial visit to Texas to experience the gameday environment, McCutcheon officially announced on Thursday that he is flipping his commitment to the Longhorns.

McCutcheon is the latest FBS-level wide receiver to emerge from the Lovejoy program, which recently produced Power Four players like LSU’s Kyle Parker and Texas’ Parker Livingstone. Calling McCutcheon’s junior season productive would be quite an understatement.

McCutcheon is ranked as the No. 14 wide receiver prospect nationally and the 107th overall player, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

He becomes the third highly-rated receiver to commit to the Longhorns in this recruiting cycle, joining five-star wideouts Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his offensive staff are building one of the best wide receiver groups for the cycle, positioning Texas for a strong reload in 2025.

Currently, Texas ranks sixth in the 247Sports Composite team rankings, just behind Georgia, with 20 total commitments.
