Montgomery’s new contract is reflective of what the now 27-year-old bruiser has meant to the Lions over his first 21 games on the roster.
Montgomery serves as the power element to Jahmyr Gibbs’ speed in the Lions’ dynamic two-pronged rushing attack. In 2023, he recorded 1,015 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns over 14 games in his first season with Detroit. Additionally, he caught 16 passes for 117 yards.
So far this year, Montgomery has accumulated 271 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns in four games, along with 9 receptions on 9 targets for 94 receiving yards, according to Pro Football Reference.
