The Bills had to make more roster decisions.
Following the Buffalo Bills’ trade for Amari Cooper to strengthen their wide receiver group, they have also released Marquez Valdes-Scantling to create roster space, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Valdes-Scantling has struggled this season, making just two catches for 26 yards. The Bills have been actively seeking to enhance their receiving corps, and Cooper emerged as a top option after Davante Adams was traded to the New York Jets.
This marks a significant day for wide receivers, with both Adams and Cooper moving to new teams. Cooper was traded from the Browns, with the Bills sending a 2025 sixth-round pick in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
After the trade, Cooper shared his excitement with NFL insider Josina Anderson. “(General manager) Andrew Berry called me to explain the situation. I’ve always been a fan of Josh (Allen)’s game, and I’m looking forward to playing alongside him,” he said. “Having been in similar situations before, I’m just eager to start a new chapter and contribute.”
With the Bills unable to replace Stefon Diggs’ production after his offseason trade, Cooper is expected to provide a significant boost, and it’s clear that Josh Allen is pleased to have him as a target who can excel in one-on-one situations.
As for the Browns, they face uncertainty about their next steps, particularly with an offense that has been one of the least effective in the league.
