Shane Beamer could save his job by bringing in new 5-star quarterback recruit

Shane Beamer is likely concentrating on the upcoming game against Oklahoma this weekend, but he’s aware that fans are expressing dissatisfaction with his coaching. South Carolina’s record stands at 3-3 this season, and they face a challenging schedule with at least three more ranked opponents ahead.

While Beamer has encountered difficulties on the field, he has excelled in recruiting, recently securing three four-star recruits in just two days. This momentum could potentially enhance his reputation among fans.

In a related note, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs recently lost five-star quarterback recruit Jared Curtis, who de-committed from the program he joined in March 2024. Since his de-commitment, six schools have caught Curtis’s interest, with South Carolina being one of them.

The Nashville native is the top quarterback recruit for the 2026 class, and landing him would be a significant achievement for Beamer as the head coach of South Carolina.

Curtis decided to de-commit from Georgia to explore other options, feeling it was unfair to do so while still pledged to the Bulldogs. Along with South Carolina, he’s considering five other schools: Oregon, Southern Cal, Clemson, Ohio State, and Alabama.

Beamer has made strides in recruiting for the 2026 class, securing three three-star recruits and two four-star recruits, placing South Carolina among the top six recruiting classes according to 247Sports.

However, with three losses this season to ranked teams, Beamer is under pressure. While he has been effective in recruiting, fans are looking for on-field success. Securing Curtis could be the boost he needs to extend his tenure with the Gamecocks.
