Breaking: Chiefs Top Star Cut Short With Serious Career Ending Injury

The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 6-0 following a 28-18 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

While this marks only the third time in franchise history they’ve begun a season with a 6-0 record, the team did face a significant setback. Starting cornerback Jaylen Watson exited the game early due to an ankle injury and was promptly ruled out for the rest of the contest.

It now appears that Jaylen Watson’s injury is more severe than the Chiefs initially hoped. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Watson sustained a fractured ankle during Sunday’s game.

He is scheduled for further imaging to determine whether a return in 2024 is even possible. Losing Watson for an extended period is a major blow to Kansas City’s secondary. After concerns about cornerback depth following the departure of L’Jarius Sneed, Watson and Trent McDuffie quickly emerged as one of the NFL’s top cornerback duos.

Now, the Chiefs will need to turn to their depth chart to find a suitable replacement for Watson in the weeks ahead. With the team already dealing with numerous offensive injuries, losing a key defensive player is the last thing they need.
