AFC East division rival royally hurts Bills’ Super Bowl chances with latest trade

The New England Patriots were well-known for their dominance over the Buffalo Bills for nearly two decades. However, that ended when Tom Brady left for Tampa Bay in 2020. Since then, the Bills have taken control of the AFC East, winning four consecutive division titles and looking to secure a fifth this season.

Now, the Bills aim to make a deep playoff run. They’ve only reached the AFC Championship Game once and have been eliminated in the divisional round three times in the past four years, often at the hands of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Buffalo has struggled to overcome the Chiefs, and their path just became more difficult. Kansas City remains the only undefeated team, despite missing some key receivers this season. Their defense has been strong, and the Patriots just made it even tougher.

On Monday, the Patriots traded edge rusher Josh Uche to the Chiefs for a 2026 sixth-round pick, as reported by Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Uche was a healthy scratch in the recent game against the New York Jets, indicating the Patriots were preparing for a trade.

The Chiefs also recently added wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans, boosting their offense. Now with Uche, Kansas City’s already formidable defense gets even stronger. The Patriots, unable to challenge the Bills directly, have instead reinforced the defending Super Bowl champions, complicating Buffalo’s pursuit of a title.
