It will be interesting to see how fans react to return to Buffalo.
The Buffalo Bills are returning home for a Week 9 divisional matchup against the Miami Dolphins, who welcomed back Tua Tagovailoa last week after his concussion sustained against the Bills in Week 2. The Bills are riding high after a commanding 31-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, while the Dolphins fell to 2-5 following a loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Buffalo has established a significant lead in the AFC East and aims to extend it further by defeating Miami this Sunday. Given the changes the Bills made during the offseason, few predicted they would dominate the division in the first eight weeks of the season.
Part of this transformation involved releasing several veteran players who helped build a winning culture under head coach Sean McDermott. One key figure in that culture was safety Jordan Poyer, who was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles, spent time with the Cleveland Browns, and joined the Bills in 2017 to form a formidable safety partnership with Micah Hyde.
Together, they were central to the defense and created many memorable moments for Bills fans. However, as the Bills faced salary cap constraints, tough roster decisions had to be made, leading to Poyer’s departure to free agency.
After leaving Buffalo, Poyer signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins, a tough pill for Bills fans to swallow, but a necessary move. Despite this, the Bills have managed to perform well at safety this season with Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin. Nevertheless, seeing Poyer in a Dolphins jersey feels strange.
Jordan Poyer is set to make his second return to Buffalo since joining Miami. Each year, the Bills host a charity softball game organized by Micah Hyde, and despite his new team, Poyer participated and received a warm reception from the fans. He even reminded them that they still have the best quarterback in the league, Josh Allen, as noted by Matt Parrino.
