The Early Signing Period for the 2025 recruiting cycle begins on Nov. 13.
This fall, Texas basketball recruiting has been active, welcoming top prospects from the 2025 and 2026 classes for key visits. Since late August, Texas has hosted about six high-profile targets from these cycles for important campus visits.
Potential commitments for Texas basketball’s 2025 recruiting class this fall
Recruiting efforts are intensifying for both men’s and women’s basketball programs across colleges, with only a few weeks left until the Early Signing Period begins on November 13.
In the last recruiting cycle, head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns saw their patient approach pay off with key commitments from priority 2024 prospects during fall 2023. Five-star shooting guard Tre Johnson made his commitment to the Longhorns official during the Early Signing Period last November.
The recent influx of significant visitors on campus over the past few months hints at how the 2025 class could shape up for Terry and his staff this fall.
Here’s an overview of the top 2025 recruiting targets for the Longhorns this season.
Shelton Henderson, F
This week, Texas is a top-three finalist for elite five-star small forward Shelton Henderson from Bellaire, Houston. On November 2, Henderson will announce his decision live on the 247Sports YouTube channel, choosing between the Duke Blue Devils, Louisville Cardinals, and Texas.
Head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns hosted Henderson for an official visit on September 27, while Henderson also visited Duke on October 4 and Louisville on August 23. Duke gained momentum in Henderson’s recruitment following his visit to Durham, but Texas holds the advantage of proximity, being just a three-hour drive from his home.
“They showed a lot of love,” Henderson noted. “Being the home-state school helps. Rodney Terry, Brandon Chappell, and the entire staff were great, and I enjoyed being around them. The whole atmosphere and fanbase really stood out to me.”
