Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is open to adding to his team ahead of the November 5 NFL trade deadline.
Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane didn’t shy away from expressing his goals for the team after completing a mid-October trade for five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper. Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show the day after the trade, Beane stated that the team is “all in” and remains open to making further moves before the November 5 trade deadline.
“We’re still all in,” Beane said. “If this hadn’t happened, if Cleveland wasn’t ready to make a deal, we would have kept monitoring the situation. We still have a few weeks until the deadline, and if we identify something that can help us get over the top, we’re ready to act.”
However, Buffalo faces a challenging situation regarding additional trades, as it is currently pressed against the salary cap. According to OverTheCap, the team has only $2.7 million in available cap space, meaning that any potential additions would need to be reasonably priced and come with an affordable contract.
While Beane acknowledges that the options for potential trades are limited, he remains open to making a deal before next Tuesday’s deadline. He emphasized his readiness to explore opportunities during a recent appearance on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast, explaining that reaching out to other teams is part of his responsibilities and that trades often materialize right up until the deadline.
“I’m always going to naturally check around and look,” Beane said. “To me, that’s my job. I need to explore every possibility to see if something makes sense. We’re looking for a player who fits our scheme, meets the team’s compensation expectations, and whose contract aligns with our cap situation. All those factors need to align, which makes it unlikely, but we’re still going to take our shot.”
“Last year, we acquired Rasul Douglas with just an hour to spare before the deadline. We were tight against the cap then too, but Green Bay had converted his contract. We had some injuries at cornerback, so bringing Rasul in was crucial. The great thing about his deal was that it had a second year, which he’s now in.”
While the pool of players who meet all of Buffalo’s criteria may be limited, Beane remains undeterred as the trade deadline approaches. The Bills are projected to have 10 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, giving them the flexibility to trade draft capital for immediate impact players. The deadline is set for November 5 at 4:00 p.m.
