The Chiefs have lost multiple players at tight end heading into Week 9.
It’s unusual that a team fortunate enough to be the NFL’s last unbeaten squad would feel so plagued by injuries—especially on offense.
On Friday, the Chiefs found out that tight end Jared Wiley will be out for the season after tearing his ACL in practice, bringing an early end to the rookie season of this promising young pass catcher.
To adjust for the injury and update the roster accordingly, the Chiefs promptly placed Wiley on injured reserve and signed Anthony Firkser to the practice squad. They also promoted Peyton Hendershot from the practice squad to fill Wiley’s role as the third tight end.
