Texas gets a huge first commitment in the 2025 recruiting class in early November, from the elite high-4-Star Houston native PF John Clark.
Just over a week before the Early Signing Period on November 13, Texas basketball and head coach Rodney Terry received their first 2025 commitment: highly-rated four-star power forward John Clark from Bellaire High School in Houston, TX. On November 1, On3 reported that Clark chose Texas over the Houston Cougars, Texas A&M Aggies, and Kansas Jayhawks, making his decision late Friday afternoon.
Terry and the Longhorns secured a major boost to kick off their 2025 recruiting class, earning a commitment from one of Texas’s top big-man prospects for this cycle.
Standing 6-foot-9 and weighing 230 pounds, Clark is ranked as the No. 35 recruit nationally in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, No. 8 among power forwards, and No. 3 in Texas.
Texas welcomed Clark for an official visit in September, along with several unofficial visits over the past year. He told 247Sports that being close to home and the strong relationships he built with the Texas coaching staff were key factors in his commitment to the Longhorns.
