The Buffalo Bills added two-time All-Pro safety to boost their corps of players

The Buffalo Bills added two-time All-Pro safety Micah Hyde to their practice squad on Wednesday. Head coach Sean McDermott was cautious when discussing Hyde’s potential return to the active roster.

“To set expectations, Micah is in a practice squad role,” McDermott told reporters. “We have complete confidence in Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, Cole Bishop, and Kareem Jackson. They’ve been performing well in their current roles, and they’ll remain there. It’s great to have Micah and his family back.”

Hyde, who has been the Bills’ starting safety for the past seven years, teamed with Jordan Poyer to form one of the league’s top safety duos. Poyer left for the Miami Dolphins in free agency, and Hyde had considered retiring.

At 33, the Ohio native confirmed this will be his final playing season but hinted at a possible coaching role with the Bills afterward.

“I’m here to help,” Hyde said. “I left my ego behind. The goal has always been to bring a championship here, and that will continue to be the goal. After this season, when I retire for good, you might see me around in another role as we work toward that championship.”

The Bills (10-2) will play the Los Angeles Rams (6-6) on Sunday.
