The Buffalo Bills were thin at defensive tackle, but they’ve bolstered the ranks.
The Buffalo Bills have re-signed two familiar defensive players, bringing back defensive tackles Jordan Phillips and Quinton Jefferson to the 53-man roster, the team announced on Wednesday. Both players signed one-year contracts.
Phillips was waived by the Dallas Cowboys after Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline. He played in the first two games of 2024 before being placed on injured reserve with a wrist injury on September 18. Although the Cowboys designated Phillips to return on October 23, he was not activated in Weeks 8 or 9.
This will be Phillips’ third stint with the Bills, following his most recent tenure during the 2022-23 seasons. In 26 games over those two years, he recorded 35 tackles, 4 sacks, and 11 quarterback hits.
Jefferson, who played for the Bills in 2020, recorded 23 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. He spent the first nine weeks of the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns, where he logged 6 tackles and 1 sack in 5 games. After being released by the Browns earlier this week, Jefferson joins the Bills’ roster ahead of Week 10. Since entering the NFL in 2016, Jefferson has accumulated 198 tackles, 27.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles.
Jefferson will wear jersey number 71 with the Bills.
