After leaving Sunday’s win over the Dallas Cowboys early, Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett is positive about his injury diagnosis.
The Atlanta Falcons seem to have narrowly avoided a major injury with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett.
A key player and team captain, Jarrett experienced an Achilles strain in the third quarter of the Falcons’ 27-21 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. He was promptly ruled out and did not return for the final quarter.
Jarrett’s abrupt exit, coming just over a year after a season-ending torn ACL, raised concerns, though it was later described as a “precautionary” measure.
Initially, there was some uncertainty about the situation, but that has now changed. Falcons head coach Raheem Morris provided an optimistic injury update on Grady Jarrett during his press conference on Monday.
“Grady’s day-to-day,” Morris said. “We looked at it (on Monday), and it’s positive news. The imaging came back well. I don’t have all the specifics, but I think he’ll feel better than he did yesterday.”
Jarrett also shared his own positive outlook, telling reporters that his MRI revealed no tear in the injury.
The 31-year-old defensive lineman was having an impactful game, recording a sack, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hit, and a run stop for no gain before the injury occurred.
While his season has had its ups and downs in terms of production, Jarrett has accumulated 30 tackles, six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and nine quarterback hits through the first nine games. He is the team’s leader in sacks and quarterback hits, and second in tackles for loss. Given that the Falcons’ pass rush is ranked last in the NFL with just nine sacks, losing Jarrett would be a significant blow.
However, the team remains hopeful about Jarrett’s recovery as they prepare for their 1 p.m. game Sunday against the New Orleans Saints at the Caesars Superdome.
