Red Sox To Make Another Run At 2-Time All-Star Who Ripped Them

The Boston Red Sox previously tried, but failed, to sign one of the top outfielders available in free agency last winter, and it seems they’re ready to try again.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the Red Sox are among the teams showing interest in Teoscar Hernández. The Baltimore Orioles and other teams are also expected to reach out to him.

Hernández signed a one-year, $23.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers last offseason, choosing to take a short-term deal as a way to prove his value—and it paid off. He appeared in 154 games for the Dodgers and posted one of his best seasons in the majors, hitting .272 with 33 home runs, 99 RBIs, and a .339 on-base percentage.

Hernández earned his second All-Star selection and contributed significantly in the postseason, helping the Dodgers secure a World Series title with 3 home runs and 12 RBIs.

While Hernández has expressed a preference to stay in L.A., at 32, he’s likely looking for a long-term contract this time around.

It remains to be seen whether he’s open to negotiating with the Red Sox again, especially after he criticized the team in July for offering him a lowball deal. However, he did express his appreciation for playing at Fenway Park.
