Chicago Bears starting safety Jaquan Brisker hasn’t played or practiced since October 6. Although he finished that game against the Carolina Panthers, he reported concussion symptoms afterward and has been sidelined ever since.
Head injuries don’t come with a set recovery timeline like a high-ankle sprain. As a result, the Bears have placed Brisker on injured reserve today.
Head coach Matt Eberflus has only said that they’re waiting for Brisker to clear concussion protocol. With no set timeline, arguing that they should have put Brisker on IR weeks ago doesn’t make much sense. Initially, the concussion didn’t seem severe, but it’s either not improved or has worsened.
Regardless of the reasons, the Bears believe the best course of action for Brisker is to keep him sidelined for at least the next four games.
The Chicago Bears are dealing with some drama this week and are hoping for a turnaround following a change at play caller. Thomas Brown, their new offensive coordinator, isn’t the only alteration to their game-day setup. Brown will be calling plays from the booth instead of the sideline, providing him a bird’s-eye view of what quarterback Caleb Williams is seeing and helping him identify any receivers who aren’t getting open.
The Bears’ offensive overhaul aims to help rookie quarterback Caleb Williams find more success as the team navigates a turbulent season. Thomas Brown, now calling plays as the offensive coordinator, is making several changes, including moving his play-calling duties from the sideline to the booth. This shift allows him to have a broader perspective of the field, helping him analyze Williams’ decision-making and identifying any receivers struggling to get open. It’s part of a broader effort to reignite the offense, which has underperformed.
