The Buffalo Bills head into their bye week just under a game behind the top seed in the AFC following their Week 11 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. A major contributor to their success this season has been Josh Allen, who took control in the final minutes of the Chiefs game, scrambling for a 26-yard, game-clinching touchdown on fourth down.
Allen has now accumulated 23 total touchdowns, 2,859 yards, and five interceptions this season. In the Kansas City game, he posted 317 total yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. His dominant performance has earned him significant praise from the national media, with some even naming him the MVP frontrunner through 11 weeks.
One of those supporting him is former teammate and Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy, who believes Allen is the MVP favorite.
“Josh is right there with the best quarterbacks in the game,” McCoy said. “When it’s crunch time, he steps up, and that’s why he should be your MVP this season.”
McCoy also expressed his confidence in Allen and the Bills even before the game-winning touchdown. “Not to brag, but I knew he would win the game because of the situation,” McCoy remarked. “You’ve got the champions, a close game, third down doesn’t work, and now it’s fourth-and-two, fourth-and-three, you go for it, obviously… Josh took over. That’s just what he does.”
McCoy, who was selected to three Pro Bowls in his four years with the Bills, played his final season with the team in 2018, which was also Allen’s rookie year.
