In 1935, the National League assumed control of the financially troubled Boston Braves after multiple unsuccessful attempts to purchase the team.

In 2018, the Braves signed free agents Josh Donaldson and Brian McCann to one-year contracts. Donaldson played 155 games, hitting .259/.379/.521 with 37 home runs, while McCann appeared in 85 games, recording a .249/.323/.412 slash line with 12 home runs before retiring at season’s end.
