Kwon Alexander has reached an agreement to join the Detroit Lions, strengthening their depleted linebacker group. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed the deal on Friday.
The Detroit Lions are in desperate need of linebacker help after a series of injuries have depleted their depth. With starting linebacker Alex Anzalone on injured reserve and Malcolm Rodriguez possibly facing a serious knee injury, the team could turn to 30-year-old linebacker Alexander, who is currently on Denver’s practice squad.
Alexander, who has experience with multiple NFL teams—including Tampa Bay, New Orleans, and San Francisco—could be thrust into action for the Lions’ crucial Thursday night matchup against Green Bay.
His extensive experience (90 starts in 107 career games) and solid 448 career tackles, including 13 ½ sacks, make him a reliable option, despite limited action this season (three games, eight tackles, and one forced fumble)
. Having previously worked with Lions head coach Dan Campbell in New Orleans, Alexander could provide the leadership and experience the team needs during this challenging stretch.
