The Chicago Bears have the foundation for a strong team, though the offensive line remains a concern. However, some key players may be moving on after this season.
At the forefront is wide receiver Keenan Allen, who is in the final year of his $80.1 million contract and currently has no extension talks underway in Chicago.
Allen, now 32, has gained momentum as the season has progressed, despite a slow start caused by a combination of factors: a lingering heel injury, a rookie quarterback in Caleb Williams adjusting to the NFL, and instability in the coaching staff and offensive scheme following the mid-season dismissals of former offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and head coach Matt Eberflus.
The six-time Pro Bowl receiver, Keenan Allen, has recorded 44 receptions for 441 yards and 5 touchdowns in 10 games this season, having missed two contests. While respectable, these stats fall short of the level of production he has consistently delivered in any relatively healthy season since 2017.
Meanwhile, the Bears have two talented receivers in DJ Moore and rookie Rome Odunze, both secured under long-term contracts. Given the team’s pressing needs along the offensive line and Allen’s age and recent injury history, it seems unlikely Chicago will pursue a significant deal to retain him.
