BOSTON — On Saturday, the Boston Red Sox announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler, a two-time All-Star who was on the mound when the Los Angeles Dodgers secured the World Series title this fall, to a one-year contract.
Buehler, 30, posted a 1-6 record with a 5.38 ERA in the 2024 regular season after missing the entire previous year recovering from Tommy John surgery. However, he performed well in the postseason, going 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA and one save.
In Game 5 of the World Series against the New York Yankees, he entered in the ninth inning, retired the side in order, and struck out the last two batters to preserve the 7-6 lead.
Over his seven-year career with the Dodgers, Buehler has accumulated a 47-22 record and a 3.27 ERA. He has also finished in the top 10 in Cy Young Award voting twice.
