Beloved Braves Predicted To Sign $175 Million Deal With AL Contender

Former Braves first-round pick Braden Shewmake has recently been designated for assignment by the White Sox.

Braden Shewmake was designated for assignment by the White Sox to clear space on their 40-man roster for Tyler Gilbert. A first-round pick in the 2019 draft, Shewmake made his MLB debut with the Braves in 2023 but played in just two games.

Braden Shewmake was later traded to the White Sox as part of a six-player deal that sent Aaron Bummer to Atlanta. Unfortunately, injuries limited Shewmake to just 39 games across Triple-A and the majors during his time in Chicago.

During his limited time in the majors, Braden Shewmake struggled offensively, posting a .125/.134/.203 slash line with a -15 wRC+ across 67 plate appearances.

The White Sox now have one week to either trade or waive Braden Shewmake. If the former Braves first-round pick clears waivers, Chicago will have the option to outright him to the minors.
