The Buffalo Bills are in a strong position at quarterback, thanks to NFL MVP hopeful Josh Allen.
However, the Bills are in a unique situation with Allen. While having extra depth at quarterback is always beneficial, Buffalo has signed another player to the position due to what can be considered a “fortunate emergency.”
The team is preparing for its relatively inconsequential regular-season finale against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
And just now, veteran quarterback Mike White has been signed to its active roster. In fact, White is signing a one-year contract extension that runs through the 2025 season… so this can be more than temporary mop-up duty behind Josh Allen
White will be available for the Bills in Week 18. … but what is the rush?
In short, Allen will start the game but leave early to maintain his iron man streak and stay healthy for the playoffs. Mitch Trubisky, the backup, will be ready to step in and handle the rest of the game if needed.
And to help mop up? Now White – who has been on the practice squad but who also has plenty of experience as a starter – is in play.
White also knows his way around the AFC East, having played with the New York Jets and with the Miami Dolphins.
