Breaking: Cubs Predicted To Swing Blockbuster Trade For $108 Million Ace This Winter

The Chicago Cubs have the potential to win the National League Central in 2025, bolstered by their roster moves, including the acquisition of outfielder Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros.

However, the team may continue strengthening its lineup through trades. Recently, Christopher Kline of FanSided suggested that the Cubs could pursue San Diego Padres ace Dylan Cease in a major offseason deal.

Cease, entering the final year of team control, is projected to sign a $108 million deal in free agency next winter. Kline noted that while Cease’s time with the White Sox had ups and downs, his individual performance was exceptional.

He also pointed out that the Cubs could offer Cease a strong opportunity to compete in the NL Central, with a solid pitching duo in Justin Steele and Shota Imanaga.

However, pitching depth remains a weakness for the Cubs, and Cease’s durability and elite talent would help address that issue. If the Cubs manage to acquire Cease, they would likely be favorites to top the NL Central in preseason rankings.

A crucial part of the trade would be extending or re-signing Cease, as the Cubs can’t afford to trade for him and lose him to free agency next year. If the Cubs are willing to take the risk, Cease could return to Chicago before Opening Day.
