CHICAGO CUBS SIGN VERSATILE INFIELDER JON BERTI
The Chicago Cubs have made a significant addition to their roster, signing versatile infielder Jon Berti to a multi-year deal.
Berti, 33, brings a wealth of experience and flexibility to the Cubs, having played multiple positions including second base, third base, shortstop, and outfield.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jon to the Cubs family,” said Cubs President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer. “His ability to play multiple positions and provide a spark on offense will be a valuable asset to our team.”
Berti, a career .246 hitter, has played for the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays, and has shown a knack for getting on base and creating chaos on the basepaths.
The Cubs have been busy this offseason, making several key signings and trades to bolster their roster. The addition of Berti is seen as a significant upgrade to the team’s infield depth and flexibility.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but sources indicate that Berti signed a multi-year contract worth several million dollars.
The Cubs are expected to make further announcements about their roster in the coming days.
