New York Yankees starting pitcher Marcus Stroman has been at the center of multiple MLB trade rumors this offseason. Heading into the second year of his two-year, $37 million contract with the Yankees, Stroman struggled in 2024 after earning an All-Star spot with the Chicago Cubs in 2023.
He posted a 4.31 ERA across 30 games (29 starts) last season, marking his lowest ERA+ (95) since his injury-plagued 2018 season with the Toronto Blue Jays. With the Yankees’ starting rotation likely to include Gerrit Cole, Max Fried, Carlos Rodon, Luis Gil, and Clark Schmidt, Stroman might find himself as the odd man out this offseason.
As trade rumors swirl around him, Marcus Stroman chose to unfollow the Yankees on Instagram and delete all posts related to the team. TheYanksCenter reported on Instagram, “TRENDING: Marcus Stroman has unfollowed the Yankees on Instagram and removed all traces of them from his profile. It looks like he’s ready to move on. The Yankees are reportedly working hard to trade him, so we’ll see what unfolds.”
The speculation surrounding Marcus Stroman continues to intensify, with former Yankees outfielder Cameron Maybin sharing his thoughts on X. “I think it’s safe to say we may be getting some Marcus Stroman news very soon,” Maybin wrote.
According to Spotrac, Marcus Stroman has a player option for 2026 that will activate if he pitches 140 innings in 2025. Last season, he logged 154.2 innings with the Yankees, his highest total since 2021. While the meaning behind his social media activity remains uncertain, it’s clear that Stroman no longer follows the Yankees on Instagram.
