Los Angeles Angels Signs A Five-year, $115 million deal.

Jack Flaherty may have been a key contributor to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2024 World Series run, but he remains a free agent, still awaiting the team he’ll join for the 2025 season. With less than a month until Spring Training, he is expected to sign with a new team soon—potentially one of the Dodgers’ biggest rivals, who are reportedly pursuing the 29-year-old with a lucrative long-term contract.

ESPN MLB analyst David Schoenfield has predicted that the Los Angeles Angels will sign Jack Flaherty to a five-year, $115 million contract. The Angels are in need of a significant talent boost, and Flaherty would instantly become a key piece at the top of their rotation—while also preventing the Dodgers from retaining him.

The Angels ended last season with a disappointing 69-93 record, finishing last in the AL West. Earlier this offseason, they signed Yusei Kikuchi in an effort to strengthen their roster. However, given their current position, even adding Flaherty—while undoubtedly beneficial—may not be enough to turn things around.

Flaherty put together a strong 2024 regular season, splitting time between the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers. He posted a 2.95 ERA over 106.2 innings with the Tigers before maintaining solid form with a 3.58 ERA in 10 starts on the West Coast. Overall, he finished the season with a 3.17 ERA and a 3.3 WAR, according to FanGraphs.

Flaherty’s postseason numbers may raise some concerns, but for the Angels, the primary focus is simply making it to the playoffs. Adding him to their rotation would be a significant step toward achieving that goal.
