Kitley officially signed with her WNBA squad.
It’s official: The Las Vegas Aces have signed Liz Kitley, widely regarded as the greatest player in Virginia Tech basketball history.
Kitley’s legacy with the Hokies is undeniable. She holds numerous records in the Virginia Tech record book, including first in games started (151), first in minutes played (4,326), and first in points scored (2,709). Additionally, she ranks second in scoring average (17.9), first in double-figure games (125), and first in double-doubles (76)—which is also an ACC record.
Kitley’s dominance extended to career stats, where she also ranks first in 30-point games (13), field goals made (1,109), career field goal percentage (55.2), rebounds (1,506, another ACC record), and blocks (331). Her 10.0 rebounds per game and 2.2 blocks per game also top the Hokies’ all-time list. Notably, she is the only woman in ACC history to surpass 2,500 points and 1,500 rebounds, according to Virginia Tech Athletics.
Kitley’s career at Virginia Tech, unfortunately, ended prematurely after she tore her ACL in March 2024. Despite the injury, she went on to win her third consecutive ACC Player of the Year award. Her impact was so significant that she became the first Virginia Tech women’s basketball player to have her jersey, No. 33, retired in the 21st century.
After her collegiate career, Kitley was selected 24th overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Las Vegas Aces. She was included as one of the two inactive players on the roster due to her injury, and she has yet to make her WNBA debut.
