Christ Church wide receiver Jackson Repp earned a scholarship offer from South Carolina coach Shane Beamer after showcasing impressive speed at a camp last summer. However, a torn ACL early in the season slowed his recruiting process. Despite this setback, Repp said that both Beamer and receivers coach Mike Furrey remained supportive of the offer during his rehab.
On Monday, Repp (5-8, 160) officially committed to the Gamecocks, but he’ll be joining the team as a preferred walk-on, with plans to go on scholarship in January. He shared his excitement about joining South Carolina, saying, “I’ll be reporting this summer and on the team for the fall. With my situation, I had lots of talks with the coaching staff and decided this was the best option for everyone. With my ACL and the rehab process, I want to get onto campus as soon as possible. Working with the entire staff and my new teammates is No. 1 priority.”
Repp had a standout junior season, catching 63 passes for 1,510 yards and 27 touchdowns, while accumulating 2,393 all-purpose yards and 32 total touchdowns. During the recruiting process, he spoke about his versatility, noting that Beamer and Furrey see him not just as a receiver, but also as a potential contributor on special teams and in various offensive roles.
“I think it’s not just me as a receiver, it’s me and what I can do in the special teams game and how I can be used other ways as well,” Repp said. “As a receiver, I talked to Coach Furrey and Beamer and they both said I’ve got elite route running, elite ball skills, elite hands, elite speed obviously.”
Though he acknowledged that his height (5-8) isn’t ideal for an outside receiver, Repp is confident that his other skills will allow him to be used effectively in different roles, like in the slot or as a returner.
Repp’s speed became a major talking point after his impressive performance at the USC camp. He ran a 40-yard dash that caught everyone’s attention. “I knew it was fast when I ran it. I felt like I was moving. I came back to Coach Furrey and was looking at the stopwatch and I was like holy crap, that’s my fastest one ever,” Repp said. “I wouldn’t say I was expecting anything after, but that definitely raised some eyebrows.”
Repp is now one of seven wide receivers in South Carolina’s 2025 recruiting class, with five of them hailing from the state.
