Trade Clash: Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills want same WR in 2025 free agency: Report

The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills have had an intriguing recent history at wide receiver. The Bills traded their 2024 draft’s No. 28 pick to the Chiefs, allowing them to select speedy wide receiver Xavier Worthy to pair with Patrick Mahomes. The Bills used their No. 33 pick on Keon Coleman instead.

Worthy had a more impressive rookie season than Coleman. The former Texas star said he’d use the Bills’ decision to pass on him as motivation in the AFC Championship Game, where he tallied 101 total yards and a touchdown in Kansas City’s 32-29 win over Buffalo.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, both the Chiefs and Bills are looking to add another wide receiver in 2025. While Kansas City is keen on keeping Marquise Brown, the star receiver will have plenty of suitors if he enters free agency in March.

“The Chiefs are determined to retain receiver Hollywood Brown, who will likely attract significant interest due to the high demand for speedy wideouts,” Fowler wrote. “Mahomes pushed for Brown’s signing last year and is expected to do so again. Could another star QB, like Josh Allen, try to land him? People within the Chiefs believe Allen has long wanted to play alongside Brown.”

Allen achieved a lot with limited weapons in 2024, which is part of why he won his first NFL MVP. Adding a true No. 1 receiver like Brown would greatly improve the Bills’ Super Bowl prospects, offering Allen a reliable replacement for Stefon Diggs.

However, Buffalo has other priorities this offseason, including reworking their defense. They might also consider giving Allen a pay raise, which could force him to choose between financial gains or securing more receiver help.
