Two coaches who used to be with the Bills will be with new organizations this coming season.
The 2025 offseason officially kicked off with the conclusion of the Super Bowl last night, where the Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs, winning 40-22. With the victory, the Eagles blocked the Chiefs’ hopes of completing a three-peat and secured their second Super Bowl title in franchise history.
Buffalo Bills fans had hoped to see their team in the Lombardi Trophy game, but they still can’t get past the Chiefs in the playoffs, which remains their biggest hurdle. For now, the focus shifts to the 2025 season for the Bills.
Buffalo has already started making changes, including a shift within the coaching staff. The team decided to part ways with special teams coordinator Matthew Smiley after inconsistent performance from the special teams unit. While there was speculation that Smiley might return, the Bills ultimately opted for a new direction.
The Bills quickly moved to hire Mike Pellegrino, who spent the last decade with the New England Patriots as both a coaching assistant and the cornerbacks coach. This hiring is seen as an underrated move, given the Patriots’ strong secondary play over the years. Pellegrino is expected to help improve Buffalo’s cornerback group.
Two former Bills coaches land with new teams for the 2025 season

According to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, former Bills’ QB coach and offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, who spent last season with the Cleveland Browns, is set to join the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff.
Dorsey was with the Bills from 2019 until the middle of the 2023 season. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2022 after Brian Daboll’s departure but was let go after a season and a half, following a Week 10 loss to the Denver Broncos. Dorsey will now join the Cowboys under offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
In addition, Adam Schefter reported that Chad Hall, who served as the Bills’ wide receivers coach from 2019 to 2022 before leaving for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2023, is set to join the New York Giants coaching staff as their assistant quarterbacks coach.
During his time in Buffalo, Hall worked closely with Brian Daboll on the development of the Bills’ offense. He now joins Daboll in New York, where he could potentially help develop a new quarterback, depending on what the Giants decide to do this offseason.
