Breaking: Major In-state linebacker target Shuns Offer With Virginia Tech Over Rival

As the Class of 2025 recruitment is wrapping up, Virginia Tech is already making moves for the Class of 2026, and several top recruits have locked in visits. Over the past week, a three-star rising edge rusher from North Carolina, Keysaun Eleazer, has confirmed his visit to Blacksburg.

Eleazer, from Southeast Raleigh High School, is ranked as the 20th-best player in North Carolina, the 32nd-best at his position, and 415th overall according to the 247Sports composite rankings. While Virginia Tech is the only school with an official visit scheduled, Eleazer also plans to visit Georgia Tech (May 30), Penn State (June 5), and Ohio State (June 20).

Additionally, Virginia Tech continues to focus on in-state talent. Four-star linebacker Mathieu Kanu from Nokesville has locked in an official visit to Blacksburg from June 20-22, which is shaping up to be a pivotal recruiting weekend. Kanu has also scheduled visits to other top programs, including Penn State (June 13), South Carolina, North Carolina, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Virginia Tech has made a concerted effort under head coach Brent Pry to recruit well within Virginia, and the upcoming visits by Eleazer and Kanu are crucial to the team’s ongoing efforts to bolster its edge and linebacker positions. So far, the Hokies have one commitment for the Class of 2026, with wide receiver Carnell Warren committing during the Under Armour All-American Bowl last month.
