Francisco Lindor’s Three-Word Message to Former Teammate After Mets New….

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor finished second in the 2024 National League MVP voting, trailing Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. Lindor earned his fourth Silver Slugger award after posting an .844 OPS, driving in 91 runs, and stealing 29 bases.

Known for his exceptional defense, Lindor also formed a standout middle infield partnership with second baseman José Iglesias, who had a breakout offensive season, posting a 137 OPS+ in 291 plate appearances. However, Iglesias, now a free agent, is not expected to return to New York, as Mets general manager David Stearns essentially confirmed this would be the case.

Francisco Lindor Returns to Mets Lineup for NLDS

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Stearns said New York is planning to enter the 2025 season with its current collection of players, prioritizing youth over the 35-year-old Iglesias. “I think where we are now for that role on our team, it’s important for us to keep some avenues open for some of our younger players,” Stearns said. “It’s important for us to have some roster flexibility with that spot.”

In response to the news, Francisco Lindor shared a heartfelt three-word message to José Iglesias on Instagram: “Muerto el pollo.” Iglesias replied with, “Miss you bro,” showcasing the bond between the two players.

Posting the second-highest OPS (.830) of his 12-year MLB career, and first when excluding the shortened 2020 season, Iglesias made a strong impact in New York. Also a fan favorite, the Cuban second baseman was seemingly beloved in the clubhouse by his teammates and coaches.
