Good News Syracuse Receives Positive Injury Update Of Their Key Player

Syracuse, N.Y. — Freshman Donnie Freeman from Syracuse underwent successful surgery on his injured right foot on Friday, as confirmed by an SU official.

The foot injury had kept Freeman out of action since early January, and he was officially ruled out for the remainder of the season before the Orange’s game against Boston College last Saturday. His last appearance was on January 4 in a loss to Florida State.

Standing at 6-foot-9, Freeman played in the first 14 games of the season, starting 13. He was averaging 13.4 points, second on the team behind JJ Starling (17.9), and 7.9 rebounds per game.

In the past 50 years, only four Syracuse freshmen have had a higher rebounding average than Freeman: Carmelo Anthony (10.0), Dale Shackleford (8.8), Derrick Coleman (8.8), and Oshae Brissett (8.8).

Syracuse’s current record stands at 11-14 for the season, with a 5-9 mark in the ACC.

The Orange will host North Carolina on Saturday at the JMA Wireless Dome.
