Just in: Pittsburgh Steelers linked to $100 million wide receiver

Another day, another wide receiver linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of free agency. This time, it’s Amari Cooper, the Buffalo Bills wide receiver, who may be on the Steelers’ radar.

Pro Football Focus highlights the potential fit between Cooper and Pittsburgh, noting the team’s need for a veteran route runner to complement the talented George Pickens.

“The 30-year-old Cooper is expected to draw interest from multiple teams seeking experienced leadership in their receiving corps. What better place to provide that than Pittsburgh, a team with a history of dynamic receivers?” writes PFF.

“The Steelers were actively exploring receiving help during the trade deadline, with rumors tying them to several options, including the former Brown. Pairing the steady Cooper with George Pickens could be a smart move to bring stability to the Steelers’ receiver room and split defensive attention.”

Cooper is coming off a disappointing year after being traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Buffalo Bills. Despite joining the Bills, his performance didn’t meet elite wide receiver standards, and at 30 years old, his future is uncertain.

In 2024, Cooper caught 44 passes for 547 yards and four touchdowns—a significant drop from his 1,250-yard season with the Browns in 2023. It remains to be seen if he has more left to give.
