Major Breaking: Longhorns 5 Star Player Arrested On Drug Charges

Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Johntay Cook, who has a history of legal issues, was arrested again in North Texas on Thursday for possession of marijuana, according to Grayson County Judicial Records.

Johntay Cook’s latest arrest marks his second encounter with law enforcement in a span of 10 days. He was previously arrested on February 4 for interfering with public duties and theft.

This string of incidents follows his dismissal from the Washington Huskies program after only a brief stint.

Johntay Cook II, a 5-star 2023 recruit, recorded 8 catches for 137 yards and 2 TDs this season. He had a notable game against UTSA with 3 catches for 35 yards and 2 TDs. Cook was ranked #31 nationally, #3 WR, and #5 in Texas in his class, and is now #44 overall and #14 WR in the transfer portal.

Johntay Cook’s tenure with the Texas Longhorns was marked by modest production, with 16 catches for 273 yards and 2 TDs over two seasons. After a brief, unsuccessful stint with the Washington Huskies, Cook made headlines for criticizing his former team, specifically quarterback Quinn Ewers.

Cook has since attempted to clarify his comments, but they’ve left a lasting impression. It’s hoped that Cook can address his issues and find success with a new team.
