Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have made significant strides in building a strong recruiting class for the 2026 cycle, securing commitments from seven players ranked in the national top 200. However, it seems they might be on the verge of losing one of their top recruits.
On Wednesday, On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons predicted that 4-star quarterback Jonas Williams will switch his commitment from Oregon to the USC Trojans. Williams, who has been committed to Oregon since August 2024, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 6 quarterback and No. 93 overall player in the 2026 class.
Although Williams has consistently stated that he is firmly committed to Oregon, he has visited USC multiple times over the past year. The Trojans, led by Lincoln Riley, have made him one of their top targets for the 2026 class. It now appears that Williams is likely to flip his commitment to USC and join the Trojans in Los Angeles.

While losing Williams would be a setback for Lanning and the Ducks, they are likely to recover quickly. Currently, Oregon leads for 5-star QB Jared Curtis, the top-ranked quarterback in the 2026 class, and is also a strong contender for 5-star QB Ryder Lyons, the second-ranked QB in the class. The Ducks have previously signed multiple quarterbacks in a single recruiting class, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them continue pursuing these two 5-star prospects, regardless of whether Williams stays committed to Oregon.
